Statement - re: Carnival Cruise Line Pulls Out of Bermuda 2012

Bermuda:

One man does not destroy the earth - - Minister Lister did not destroy Tourism by himself.  Carnival Cruise Lines are known to be the "cheap man's" cruise line, thus they would be pulling out of Bermuda - the most expensive cruise port on the East Coast of the USA ANYWAY - - they are not making the money they THOUGHT they would - - stone cold fact!

However, I will admit that the problems this summer with the buses, taxis, and transportation (which does include the Minister) solely rests on the shoulders of the BIU membership at DPT, including Chris Furbert, who supported A PERSON WHO DIDN'T PISS IN A CUP FOR 5 MONTHS!!  Additionally, you can include the inconsiderate, inept management team at DPT and the Transport Minister (The Acting Director of DPT and the PS of Transport - - they are the ones who could not agree to get things resolved and back up and running - - THE PROBLEM LIES THERE.)

So in a nutshell, Minister Lister can be blamed for this recent "pull-out" by Carnival, but when you look closer, you will see what is really going on - - then you can decide who to blame - - -

Butterfield Vs. Burt - an Opinion (Listen if you wanna, PLP)

Bloggers & readers:

It is simple to me - - There was some form of problem with either a spoiled ballot or an ineligible voter.  The branch needs to sort it out and award the win to the candidate who will best represent their interests - - whomever they may be.

However, I do find it interesting that there would be some "problem" in this branch with Min Butterfield going up against the young Senator Burt.  This is an example of the "old" guard not realizing that if the PLP is going to be successful in the next general election, THEY MUST DEMONSTRATE THAT THEY ARE WILLING TO CHANGE AND PROVIDE FRESH IDEAS AND FACES.

But it may be too late now - - - Rabain was a good start, but they have really put themselves in a hole with Rolfe (you are a fool if you think otherwise - he is a liability to the government - period).

And as a young black voter (the same vote that is critical to the success of either party in the next election), my comments above should really be a concern for the PLP going forward.  Heed my warnings - - we are tired of your "excess", your "waste", and your "disrespect".  We will either vote for the OBA or not vote at all - - I will leave you to decide which . . . but don't complain when it is all over.

Make Your Voice Heard

My Fellow Bermudians:

I beseech you all - - engage the political process and make your voice heard.  If you wish for the OBA to secure the seat now made vacant by John Barritt, vote in the by-election.  If you wish to have a PLP, UBP or independent candidate to take the seat, vote in the by-election.

Do not just do the "Bermudian" thing - which is to sit, complain, and do nothing on the day, and when it is all over, complain louder on talk shows and blogs.

A general election is coming sooner than you think - - we all need to be ready.  This is not an endorsement for either party, group or affiliation - - but to truly engage in change for our country - - we, the people, are the "true" government - - let us never forget that.

On this day of remembrance, we join with our American brothers and sisters to honour the lives lost 10 years ago in the US. Their loss is felt by millions around the world and we would like to take this opportunity to offer our support, sympathies and prayers - we love you all. May our heavenly Father comfort you today and always.

State of Political Affairs - BDA version 2011

The creation of the OBA is nothing more than a last-ditch attempt to win electoral favour with those who are upset with the PLP – the current government.

I do not trust the current government (thanks to Aunt Paula’s recent comments as well as their track record overall); HOWEVER, this “combined” opposition is not favourable in my eyes. I was willing to look at the UBP and their candidates, as well as their platform for the next general election. I was even willing to consider the option from the BDA (they would not have placed a candidate in my area – a PLP stronghold).

But the fact that both the UBP and the BDA have combined just to win the next election, it is a slap in the face of all logical thinking Bermudians. Just a few months ago, you both could not agree on ideals and policy, but you now want me to believe that you “kissed and made up?”

Bad form of poli-tricks and we are not fooled. Former Opposition Leader, Kim Swan – I want to thank you for your long standing years of service to the community and country – you are a valuable voice and I hope you will continue to be about change for Bermuda. You are an honourable man – you would never say that the UBP party set you up from the beginning of your leadership to fail – how they strangled you and the party financially by having the UBP faithful withhold their monies – how they talked behind your back while smiling in your face – even how those “black” members of the UBP would lend their support only to realize they are “tokens” for the “white” minority of the higher level of UBP support base (yes, I’m talking about you Bob Richards and Cole Simmons).

Back to my point though, I cannot see myself voting for this new “combined” opposition – they are a group of BACKSTABBERS (UBP who decided to kill themselves and their party for the sake of winning) and TURNCOATS (BDA – who jumped ship when they didn’t get their way only to come back when they realized they don’t have the money or support to do anything – Mike Fahy, Pettingill, Crockwell – that means you). This puts me in a weird position as I can’t vote for the current government – they are a bunch of untrustworthy (Premier – if you can’t trust me, that means you are unworthy of trust), inept (Transport Minister – last year, there wasn’t a problem with the cruises/ferries/taxis/buses – strange, huh?), self-serving (pick a Minister – but Blakeney comes to mind?)

This is a call to all people who love this country/island/community – whatever you want to call it – - It is time to make sure our voices are heard. If you feel that the government is not doing right by you, speak on it – and not on the talk shows. Go to the Cabinet Office, Go to that Minister’s office – if they don’t want to talk to you, then you get others to do the same. Once they understand you will not go away quietly, they will either listen or not. If not, you then exercise your God-giving right to vote for an alternative. At this point, UNTIL A BETTER SOLUTION IS PROVIDED, my ballot may include my own name as a candidate – - I can’t do any worst.

Signed,

The day after - May 22,2011

We were are still here. I do not make fun of anyone or point fingers, thus there is nothing else to say about yesterday's prediction.

Moving forward, we should be able to focus on what's important for our island home. Education, crime, economic stability.

I welcome your thoughts and ideas about the above mentioned topics and any others you feel are equally as important.
